On Sunday, at the National Summer Swimming Championships, Sun Yang made his return to the pool after 1,680 days, winning the 400m freestyle with a time of 3 minutes 49.58 seconds. The record would have placed 22nd in the preliminary heats at the recently concluded Paris Olympics
